We were asked by Edinburgh City of Literature to come up with ideas for their ageing guide map. Seeking a fresh approach we decided to let the characters rather than the authors do the talking (and walking). Famous characters such as Irvine Walsh’s Renton from Trainspotting and Muriel Spark’s Miss Jean Brodie can be seen dropping quotes as they stroll around the broadsheet of Edinburgh’s streets bedecked with the names of the city’s most renowned authors and hotspots of literary interest.
A few years down the line and the leaflet has proved so successful that it has undergone numerous reprints and text updates. We like to think that the longevity of the leaflet is testament to the fruitful collaboration of the client and the creative team.
