...clients briefed designers to make their brand and all their brand communications look good. Lo and behold, most brands worth their salt now look good. Which means their competitors look good, too. So... where's the differentiation?

The answer is words, language and stories. Every company has at least one great story, that's theirs and theirs alone. In telling your story (or stories) more of your personality is revealed. And the more different, unique, you become. This is our starting point and that's why we work hand in glove with creative writers, the natural partners in the design process.

In fact our starting point, our name, came from a writer too. Seamus Heaney begins his translation of Beowulf (the oldest story in Anglo-Saxon) with the exclamation 'So!'

It's an expression used by Heaney’s relatives in Northern Ireland "calling for immediate attention." The expression naturally resonates with Ulsterman Damian Mullan who set up So… in 2004 after 15 years within the design industry, including long spells at McIlroy Coates, Redpath and Whitespace.
