A healthy report

NOV'08

We were asked by the University of Edinburgh's Child and Adolescent Health Research Unit to produce two landmark reports for the HBSC Study.

The Health Behaviour of School-aged Children Study surveys children and adolescents aged 11, 13, and 15 years of aged through school-based research. Now in it's 20th year, it has seen the number of countries participating in the international study grow considerably over this period. So, to mark this milestone and to address the practical issues arising from the increase in data we were tasked with taking a fresh look at both the international and national reports.

Our approach was to introduce engaging layouts that benefit from having consistent sign posting and a clearer presentation of the vast amount of data, in the form of text, chart and map formats. This was especially important for the international report which focuses on the health of young people in 41 countries and regions across Europe and North America.

In contrast for the national report we were able to inject a level of personality that helped the target audience, local health policy makers and practitioners across Scotland, more easily identify with the subject.
